Six years ago today, my 88 year-old father went for a walk in the early morning and did not return. This is my imagining of what happened that day, June 11, 2010.

Hi, Claudia-
Thanks for this reminder. I can’t possibly know what you went through that day or in subsequent days, months and years. However, June 10 is the anniversary of my mother’s passing — this year was the 17th anniversary. And June 17th was her birthday, so this time of year is always very emotional for me, too. I mourn her but I also often find myself smiling, sometimes laughing, through my tears because I see her in myself in countless ways and it makes me appreciate her in ways I never could have while she was alive. Life is funny….
I hope this finds you well. If Daniel knew I were writing to you he would tell me to send you his best — so you’ve got it!
Love, Judy xox

Thanks so much, Judy. The loss of a beloved parent is such a massive loss, that all one can really do is count the years, which seem to disappear in the act of counting them. I wish you joy and peace in your memories of your mom. And, please send my love to Daniel, too.
